The Tengboche Monastery is the most important monastery for the Sherpas of the Khumbu region. It is tradition that every climbing expedition to Mt. The monastery is also significant because a decree from the Lama prohibits killing within the premises which is largely the reason why the Sagarmatha National Park is a refuge for a variety of endangered fauna.
