North Col is a large area where all Everest North expeditions make Camp I. From this point we can see the incredible views of the North Face of Everest, Pumori and Cho Oyu. It is a great chance for the climbers to gain some altitude experience climbing Everest.
North Col climbing is really exciting climb for those who have some previous climbing experience and would like to take on the considerable challenge of climbing to 7,000 metres.

Normally, team stay at advance base camp for four days and start climbing Everest North Col using fixed ropes. The route is straight forward trail up moraine to the East Rongbuk Glacier and takes about five to six hours. The descent takes about three hours.

Short route information:

This expedition involves a 22 km walk from Base Camp at 5,200m to Advanced Base Camp at 6,400m over two days. Several days are spent at ABC in order to acclimatize.
 

The route is initially a straight forward trail up moraine to the East Rongbuk Glacier, which leads to the fixed ropes. The descent takes around three hours.

The North Col is a fairly large area where all expeditions make Camp 1 and from where there are fantastic views of the whole of the North face of Everest, the West Rongbuk Glacier, Lho La, Pumori and Cho Oyu.
