Fourteen persons including eleven passengers and three crew members died on the spot when a Lukla-bound airplane crashed in Shikharapur of Makwanpur this morning as it was returning to Kathmandu after it failed to land on the Lukla airport.
Those killed include Capt. Lucky Shah, co-pilot Sophia Singh, air hostess Sahara Sherpa, and passengers R Rijal, P Humagain, P Bhote, K Rai and P Sherpa. Six foreigners - four Americans, one Japanese and a British national - were also killed in the crash.

I am pleased to inform you about our Adventure Extreme expedition to Mt. Everest from North side.
On 11th of April, Mr. Ian James Hibbert and Mr. Rauno Hoglin started their expedition from Kathmandu with two high altitude supporting Sherpa and ABC cook. Ian Hibbert is from Australia and Rauno from Canada.
The team reached base camp on 16 April and ABC on 19 April.
South Korean mountaineer Oh Eun-sun became the first woman to climb all 8,000-meter peaks in the world. Oh reached the summit of Annapurna (8091m) on April 27 to complete her illustrious campaign that she started by climbing Gasherbrum II (8,035m) in 1997. Italian mountaineer Reinhold Messner was the first mountaineer to climb all eight-thousanders.
After reaching the summit, Oh pulled out a South Korean flag, raised her arms and shouted: 'Hurray! Hurray!!', promoting celebrations across South Korea that had been watching her climb live on television screen.
With the slogan "Together for Tourism", the Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) 2011 has been formally unveiled by the government on Friday, 26 March 2010.
Prime Minster Madhav Kumar Nepal inaugurated the NTY 2011 by lighting a lamp brought from Lumbini, the birth-place of Gautam Buddha, in a special ceremony organized at the Nepal Army pavilion in Tundikhel, Kathmandu.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the government expects active help and support from everyone to make this national campaign a success.
11th Nepal Open paragliding from Feb 18
The Pokhara Chapter of Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) is organizing the 11th edition of Nepal Open Paragliding Championship in Pokhara from February 18.
"The three-day event has already become a major attraction in Nepal's tourism calendar. We are organizing the event to promote the adventure sports of paragliding and promote Pokhara as a hub for adventure tourism," a press statement issued by TAAN Pokhara Chapter stated.
