Well, Jomsom Muktinath Trekking is one of the wonderful trekking package in Annapurna and Mustang Region. This trek includes the deepest gorge of the world at Kaligandaki River. Anyone having moderate level of fitness can complete this trek. We will be continuing along the Kaligandaki River Gorge and marvel at the splendid peaks of Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri. Besides, we will also explore the centuries-old monastery, local tribes, and caves along with the wonderful scenic beauty. The other mountains we will be witnessing are the Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, and other peaks.
During the initial days of Jomsom Muktinath Trek, we will be trekking through Annapurna region which ascends through rice terraces and villages inhabited by the indigenous people and mostly Gurungs. We will have interesting time when we reach Tatopani, to relax with natural hot springs. We then pass through Jomsom and Kagbeni which are the entry point of upper Mustang Region. We then will explore the holy Hindu pilgrimage site of Muktinath which equally sacred site for Buddhists too. The sacred temple has 108 sprouts of water. After that, we will move downhill to Jomsom where you can look around at the gateway to the ‘Forbidden Kingdom of Mustang'.
Arrival in Kathmandu
Extreme Adventure representative will collect you from the airport. It’s a free day. Later in the evening, there will be a group briefing and welcome group dinner.
Free day and preparationThe trekking guide or experience staff will first do a gear check at your hotel and organize renting any equipment if needed. Then you have a free day to explore around beautiful Heritage sites in Kathmandu (Durbar squares of Kathmandu, Pahupatinath and Boudha Stupa).
Drive to Pokhara and Trek to Ulleri
We will drive early in the morning to Pokhara by private vehicle and trek at Birethanti, which is large village with many shops and tea houses. Start walking from Birethanti and after ascending steeply for the first 2 hours, we will reach the place Ulleri, a large Magar village, where we will spend a night.
Ulleri to GhorepaniWe will start our next day trek. We will be enjoiyng the breathtaking views of Machapuchare mountain (6997m), Hiunchuli peak (6441m), and the grand Annapurna (7219m) south on the way. Following the quite easy trail we will also pass the forest area where we can observe rhododendron trees on the way to Ghorepani.
Ghorepani to Tatopani
Ghorepani offers the panoramic views of surrounding mountains including Nilgiri Mountains and Annapurna South. After having breakfast, we will leave for Tatopani. Well, on the way to Tatopani, we will descend steeply to Sikha which is a large village and then to Ghar Khola Village. Just after crossing a suspension bridge, the trail ascend up to Tatopani. We will take bath in the natural hot spring to sooth tired muscles.
Tatopani to GhasaToday, the trail follows the Kali Gandaki River which flows under the deep gorge. We will continue along Dana and Rupse Chhahara and Kopchepani as well. Further continuing through the trail, we reach at the Thakali villag of Ghasa which is considered a paradise for bird watchers. We will stay overnight at Ghasa.
Ghasa to Marpha
Crossing Chomrong Khola, you continue trekking along steep stone steps. On your trails, you bypass rhododendron-covered ridge path, mountainous terrains and forests of bamboo. As you savor awe-inspiring views of Annapurna mountain ranges and Machhapuchhare, you gather more energy and enthusiasm to explore further. During your five-hour walking, you cross Modi Khola, pass through Khuldigar, Bamboo and Dovan and finally reach Himalaya Hotel.
Himalayan Hotel to Annapurna Base Camp via Machhapuchre Base Camp
The trek remains on the west bank of Modi, now following through a more open valley and eventually emerges into the Sanctuary. Straight ahead is the high lateral Morain of the South Annapurna glacier.
Annapurna Base Camp - Hinku Cave
The trial passes through Machhapuchare base camp and all the way down hill to Hinku cave.This area is called Annapurna Sanctuary since it is totally surrounded by mountains.The spectacular Mountain View can be see from this trial
Hinku cave – Chomrong
The trail up the Modi Khola passes through dense forests of rhododendron and bamboo across Annapurna mountain range. After trekking for 5 hours, you reach Chomrong. From Chomrong you can have prominent and mesmerizing view of Machhapuchhare. There are many chalet-style wooden lodges at Chomrong.
Chomrong – GhandrunkThe trail through flatland, forests and terraced fields; a suspension bridge comes your way. On crossing this suspension bridge over Khumnu Khola, you enter beautiful village of Ghandruk after walking for 3 to 4 hours. You get to witness unique culture, tradition and custom of Gurung community. Ghandruk offers excellent views of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Machhapuchhare
Trek to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara. Rest of time free and leisure.
Pokhara – Kathmandu
Early morning, transfer to Kathmandu by Private car or tourist bus(takes about 6 hours), uplon arrival check in at hotel, rest of time free and leisure.
