Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is an astonishing trekking trail of Nepal, specially designed with the combination of the remote and picturesque valley of Langtang. It is highly populated by Sherpa and Tamang inhabitants. It lies inside Langtang National Park at an altitude of 4,380 m (14,370 ft) in the Rasuwa District.
Gosaikunda Helambu Trekking area is regarded as one the most religious site or one of the purest sacred lakes of Langtang. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that Gosaikunda Lake connects with the Lord Shiva (God of power and destruction). People believed that the Lord Shiva meditated for years in the Himalayas, took bath in the lake and was able to acquire purified soul. Many Nepalese and people from world with religious beliefs, visits Gosaikunda Lake to take a bath in its water in the faith to get rid of their sin and sorrow.
Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is considered as one of the challenging trekking trail of Nepal, which offers us an incredible and diverse journey along the Langtang valley. This trekking trail includes long, steep and descent climate, sub–alpine dense forest, majestic Himalayan views, glaciers, sacred Gosaikunda (4,460m), Saraswatikunda & Ganeshkunda and picturesque villages. Passing through the lush tropical forest, we will reach to the popular Gosaikunda Lake (4,380m) that is located among the high grey rocks. Langtang National Park is the first national park and fourth protected area of our country. Langtang National Park was established in 1976. It exceeds an altitudinal range of 6,450 m (21,160 ft) and covers an area of 1,710 km2 (660 sq mi) in the Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Sindhulpalchok districts of the central Himalayan region encompassing 26 village communities. The western boundary follows the Bhote-Koshi and Trishuli Rivers. The southern border lies 32 km (20 mi) north of the Kathmandu Valley.
Arrival in Kathmandu
Extreme Adventure representative will collect you from the airport. It’s a free day. Later in the evening, there will be a group briefing and welcome group dinner.
Free day and preparationThe trekking guide or experience staff will first do a gear check at your hotel and organize renting any equipment if needed. Then you have a free day to explore around beautiful Heritage sites in Kathmandu (Durbar squares of Kathmandu, Pahupatinath and Boudha Stupa).
Drive to Syabru Bensi and trek to Khanjim
The first day of the journey starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi. The drive is about 6/7 hours. Then we will alk to Khanjim here we ill spend first night.
Khanjin to Lama HotelWe will start our second day trekking after breakfast. The trail ascends upstream of Langtang Khola through the forests until reaching Pairo which takes about 3 hours. After lunch in Pairo your trek continues. Crossing deep forests till Bamboo and crossing some suspension bridge, e will reach in Lama Hotel.
Lama Hotel to Langtang
The tail continues through the forests until reaching Gumnachok and it takes about 1 and half hour. Then you continue your hike to Ghoda Tabela which takes about 2 hours. From here we can enjoy the view of Langtang Lirung. You have lunch break here. After lunch, the trail continues passing the yak pasture land and through the forests until reaching Thangshyap. Then your trail keeps rising until reaching Chyamki. We will continue walking to Langtang village crossing some suspension bridge and enjoying the views of Langtang Lirung other peaks around.
Langtang to Kyanjing Gompa
Trekking from Langtang to Kyanjing Gompa is the shortest walk of this trip. The trail continues passing the Yak pasture land until reaching Kyanjin Gompa which takes about 3 hours. You have lunch. After lunch, you can visit Kyanjin Gompa and Cheese Factory. You can also enjoy the views of peaks like Langtang Lirung, Gangchempu, Nayakhang and other peaks.
In Kyanjing Gompa
We will hike to Tserko-Ri (5,033 meters) to see the exotic panoramic view of mountains & Glaciers.
Kyanjing Gompa to Lama Hotel
Trek down to Lama hotel.
Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru
After break fast we will alk up to Thulo Sybru. The trek hour is about 6/7.
Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa
After breakfast you start your trek to Sing Gompa. Its is also known as Chandan Bari. Singompa is a famous monastery in the area. You can visit and pay respects at the monastery. It provides a glimpse into the local culture of Rasuwa district. There are a lot of good tea houses and lodges to spend the night at. The area is also famous for its cheese factory. You can visit the factory.
Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda
This is the day you reach your trekking destination ‘Gosaikunda’. This is the toughest section of the trek. With your beautiful destination in mind, your trek continues onwards to Gosaikunda.You can explore the area and try to locate all the 108 lakes. Or, just relax and enjoy the magnificence of Gosaikunda lake. The magnificent mountains surround this lake on all sides and offer the best sunrises and sunset views.
Gosaikunda to Thare Pati
The trek from Gosaikunda to Thare Pati continue along the rugged trails and pass several trains and other smaller lakes. Corssing Thare Pati Pass (4602m) we will descend along a ridge to the tree line past beautiful waterfalls, through juniper and rhododendron forest.
Thare Pati to Tamang Village
After breakfast we will walk steadily all day through fir, rhododendron and prickly leafed oak forests. Visit the Tamang village of Gul Bhangjyang. The walk offers you to see the excellent views of the mountains and the Helambu valley.
Tamang Village to Chisapan
Walking don gently ‘ups & downs’ following a ridge to camp just above Chisapani and offers you to observe the excellent panoramic views of the Himalaya from Ganesh Himal to Mt. Everest.
Chisapani to Sundarijal
The treks offer yo to climb small pass at Burlang Bhagjyang (2438m). Trek down to Sundarijal (1457m). Drive for 45 minutes to Kathmandu from Sundarijan and chek into your hotel.
